In SATN, a customer is the individual or organization on whose behalf you register food products. Every product in the system belongs to a customer, so keeping your customer records accurate and up to date is essential for organizing your work and generating correctly attributed nutritional tables.

Customer types

SATN supports two customer types, reflecting the two legal forms a food producer can take in Colombia.
A natural person (persona natural) is an individual food producer or entrepreneur operating under their own name.Required fields:
  • Document number (cédula or equivalent ID)
  • First name
  • Last name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
Use this type for sole proprietors, independent artisan producers, or any individual who registers products under their personal identity document.

How customers are linked to products

You do not need to create a customer record before registering a product. When you fill in the product creation form, SATN checks whether a customer with the document number or NIT you enter already exists:
  • If the customer exists, SATN links the new product to that existing record automatically.
  • If the customer does not exist, SATN creates a new customer record on your behalf and links the product to it.
This means your customer list grows automatically as you register products. You can always go back and review or update customer details from the customer list.
SATN matches existing customers by document number for natural persons and by NIT for companies. Make sure you enter these identifiers consistently to avoid creating duplicate customer records.

Viewing and searching the customer list

The customer list is available under Customers in the main menu. It shows all customers in your workspace and provides tools to narrow down the list when you are looking for a specific record. Search options:
  • By name or company name
  • By document number (natural persons)
  • By NIT (companies)
Filter options:
  • Filter by customer type: show only natural persons, only companies, or all customers

Open the customer list

Click the Customers link in the sidebar.

Search for a customer

Type a name, document number, or NIT into the search field. The list filters as you type.

Apply a type filter

Use the customer type dropdown to limit results to natural persons or companies if needed.

Open a customer record

Click on a customer’s name or row to open their detail page, where you can see all associated products and edit their contact information.

Editing customer information

You can update a customer’s email, phone number, name, or company name at any time from their detail page. Document numbers and NITs are used as primary identifiers and should be changed only if there was a data entry error.
Changing a customer’s document number or NIT may affect how SATN matches that customer during future product registrations. Verify the correct identifier before saving the change.

Products associated with a customer

Each customer detail page lists every product registered under that customer, including unitary, mix, and combo products. From this view you can open any product to review its nutritional table or make edits.
If you manage products for many customers, use the search and filter tools on the customer list rather than scrolling. Searching by NIT or document number is the fastest way to locate a specific customer.
