A unitary product is the most common product type in SATN. It represents a single-formula food product — one recipe with a defined list of ingredients and a fixed serving size. When you save a unitary product, SATN automatically calculates and stores a complete nutritional table based on the ICBF food composition data for each ingredient you selected.

When to use a unitary product

Use a unitary product for any food item that is made from a single recipe: a sauce, a snack, a beverage, a dessert, or any other product without separate sub-formulas. If your product has distinct components (for example, a pastry with a dough and a filling), use a mix product instead. If you are bundling pre-existing products together, use a combo product.

Creating a unitary product

1

Open the creation form

In the top navigation, click Products, then click New unitary product.
2

Enter customer information

Every product in SATN is linked to a customer. Select the customer type before filling in their details:
  • Natural person — enter the document number (required), first name, last name, email, and phone number.
  • Company — enter the NIT (required), company name, email, and phone number.
If you are creating multiple products for the same customer, the customer information you enter here is saved and associated with all products you link to that document number or NIT.
3

Enter product details

Fill in the core product fields:
FieldDescription
Product nameMust be unique across all products in SATN, regardless of type.
Commercial presentationA short description of the packaging format, for example 300g bag or 500ml bottle.
Serving size (g)The declared serving size in grams used for per-serving nutritional calculations.
Unit of measurementSelect Solid for foods or Liquid/Beverage for drinks. This controls which nutritional declaration format is applied.
Total amount (g)The total weight of the product batch or formulation in grams.
Product names must be unique across unitary, mix, and combo products. If the name you enter is already in use, SATN will display a validation error before the product is saved.
4

Configure significant water (optional)

If your product undergoes a cooking or processing step where a significant amount of water is lost — for example, baking, frying, or evaporation — enable the Significant water toggle. When this option is on, three additional fields appear:
FieldDescription
Final outgoing amount (units)The number of final units produced after processing.
Final unit weight (g)The weight of each final unit after processing.
Water total amount (g)The total amount of water added to the formula.
SATN uses these values to calculate the moisture loss percentage and applies a dry-base correction to the nutritional values, so the final table accurately reflects the cooked or processed product.
Enabling significant water correction is important for baked goods, cooked meats, and any product whose weight changes substantially during preparation. Without this correction, the nutritional values would reflect the raw formula rather than the product as consumed.
5

Add ingredients

Scroll to the Ingredients section. Use the search field to look up ingredients from the ICBF food composition database. For each ingredient you add:
  1. Type the ingredient name in the search box and select it from the results.
  2. Enter the quantity in grams that this ingredient contributes to the formula.
  3. Repeat for each ingredient.
You must add at least one ingredient before the product can be saved. There is no upper limit on the number of ingredients.
Quantities should reflect the raw ingredient weight used in the formulation, before any cooking losses. If you have enabled significant water correction, SATN handles the cooked-weight adjustment automatically.
6

Save the product

Click Save product. SATN validates all fields, checks that the product name is unique, and confirms that at least one ingredient is present. If validation passes, the product is saved and a nutritional table is immediately generated and linked to it.You will be redirected to the product list, where the new product appears at the top of your results.

What happens after saving

Once the product is saved, SATN calculates the full nutritional table automatically. The table includes values per 100 g and per declared serving size, covering all nutritionally significant components: energy (kcal), total fat, saturated fat, trans fat, carbohydrates, sugars, dietary fiber, protein, sodium, and any applicable vitamins and minerals drawn from the ICBF database entries. You can export this table to Excel or generate a full regulatory report from the Exports section.
If you delete a unitary product, its nutritional table is also permanently deleted. Make sure you have exported any reports you need before deleting.
